Even if you don’t switch, you can take control.
In addition to switching suppliers, there are other options you may want to consider that might help lower your bill or reduce your impact on the environment.
Power Smart Pricing (PSP)
Power Smart Pricing is an optional, user-friendly supplement to our basic real-time pricing program (see below). With this program, residential consumers can take advantage of hourly market pricing. This means that the price you pay for electricity will vary from hour to hour and day to day according to the actual market price. You can use price signals to guide your energy use and potentially save money when compared to the standard rate. In addition, PSP customers are given helpful tips, special alerts and much more to help them make the most out of the hourly pricing. For more information, click here.
Real-Time Pricing (RTP)
An hourly price option for customers with demands less than 400 kW, real-time pricing allows you to take advantage of market supply and demand. Generally, market prices are highest during times of peak demand (between 5 a.m. and 9 p.m. daily and during the summer months of June through September). For more information, click here.
Hourly Supply Service (HSS)
Similar to real-time pricing, HSS is an hourly option for nonresidential customers with demands greater than or equal to 400 kW. To learn more about this nonresidential option, click here.
Net Metering
If you are considering the use of solar, wind, fuel cells or renewables to generate your own electricity, you can apply to net that electricity against the electricity supplied by the Ameren Illinois Utilities or your alternate retail electric supplier.
